Richmond Hill struck first in the 14th minute, when #22 Kesia Broome took a through-pass into the penalty area, and finished with a right footed blast into the bottom left corner.
The lead was quickly erased, after Oakville’s #8 Ashlee Savona was played in on a break-away after a clinical build-up, and she rounded the goalkeeper to even the score at 1-1.
Richmond Hill almost regained the lead in the 33rd minute when #6 Brianna Rawson tried a right-footed shot from 20 yards out that just missed.
They were later rewarded for their offensive efforts, when #99 Krista Cellucci put her side ahead in the 38th minute with a right-footed shot to the far post, to go up 2-1.
That was all the scoring in the first half, leaving Oakville with some work to do in the second.
The second half started with Oakville having to chase the game for a goal. Richmond Hill were equal to the pressure in the opening minutes of the half, determined to keep their goal advantage.
Oakville did their best to tie the game, but it was Richmond Hill that found the game’s next goal.
#7 Maria Cusimano did the damage, unleashing a left-footed blast from the left side into the far bottom corner. The third goal secured the result for Richmond Hill, and they held on to claim the Ontario Cup by a 3-1 score.
