OSA Goalkeeper Diploma Course

This year's Goalkeeping Diploma Course will be held at The Ontario Soccer Association Soccer Centre in Vaughan, Ontario.
The course will run on Friday June 1, Saturday, June 2, and Sunday , June 3rd
Cost to Attend is $350.00 (see application for details - pdf)
*if there are not enough participants to run the course it will be rescheduled.
All applicants will be contacted by May 11th to confirm details.

|Who Should Attend|
The GK course is for coaches who have successfully completed the pre-requisite requirements and would like to continue with their coaching education at a higher level specializing in Goalkeeping aspects of the game.
This three day course is non-residential.
This course takes place both in a classroom and on a field. Candidates will take part in classroom group work as well as field sessions.
Course Prerequisite Requirements
Coaches must meet the following pre-requisite requirements to apply to this specialized course.
Completed full hours Community Coaching Course (Soccer Technical- Child/ Youth / Senior) + Respect In Soccer
Completed the "Soccer For Life" + MED + Respect In Soccer
Completed the "Learn To Train" Technical Soccer Course + MED + Respect In Soccer
Former / Active Canadian Professional Player (Written verification from Provincial Technical Director) + MED + Respect In Soccer * Written Approval from the Director Technical (OSA) is required if applying based on this prerequisite requirement
*NB – Active participation in sessions is required by candidates attending this course
|Content and Format||Coaches participate in classroom theory components in addition to on-field practical sessions.|
Some of the course topics covered in classroom setting:
- Introduction - Principles of Development
- Role of the Coach -GK Psychology
- Energy Systems - Fitness / Agility and Nutrition
- Key Factors
- Attributes of a Good GK Coach:
- Warm Up - Principles
- Periodization - YTP for the GK
|Preparation - Field Work||The course takes place on an indoor turf field.|
Participants should come prepared for back up plan in the event a portion of the course is moved to outdoor turf field or Grass Field.
Come prepared and dressed to participate in sessions.
Suggest training shoes (runners) in addition to soccer boots appropriate for indoor / outdoor turf
|Preparation - Classroom Theory|
Coaches will need notebook, paper, and pen/pencil. A laptop with internet access may be helpful to the candidate (but not a requirement)
|Course Completion / Outcomes|
Candidates may be asked to present a session topic on field, but coaches will not be formally assessed.
There is no test however full attendance is mandatory to receive diploma for this specialized course.
Upon completion of this course a diploma will be presented to each participant.
