7 v 7 Soccer Festival

  1. ALL teams MUST be registered with an affiliated club, teams must be registered with their District Association as an indoor or futsal team for 2011-2012, and players will be required to show their OSA Player Registration Books on tournament day.
  2. Each team playing at The Soccer Centre from outside the York Region S.A. must obtain Permission to Travel from its District Association prior to the entry deadline and submit it with their registration form in order to be considered registered. Failure to present a Travel Permit will result in forfeiture of all scheduled games without refund. 
  3. The U-9, U-10 and U-11 divisions will play 7 v 7 (one goalkeeper, 6 out).
  4. All 7 v 7 games are 35 minutes in duration. There is no half-time.
  5. The three line violation will not be called by the referee. If a player passes the ball across three lines in the air towards the opponent’s goal without touching another player or the referee, the referee will not stop the play.
  6. The ball will be kicked in, not thrown in.
  7. If the ball makes contact with the ceiling or an object on the ceiling during play, play will be stopped and an indirect free kick will be awarded to the team that did not have possession of the ball when it was kicked.
  8. Substitution of players with the exception of the goalkeeper may be made at any time during the game provided the substitute does not enter the field of play until the player being replaced is within 1 metre of the bench area. The substitution of the goalkeeper must be done during a stoppage in play.
  9. If any team pulls it’s goalkeeper, the player coming on must wear a jersey of a different colour from the rest of his/her team to distinguish himself/herself.
  10. Teams registered as mini-soccer indoor may carry a maximum of 14 players.
  11. Trial Permits and Temporary Registration permits for guest players are allowed with proper validation by District Association. (Maximum of 3 players per team.)
  12. Teams may use players that are registered in their club from an equal or younger age group. These players must be registered and have their OSA Player Registration Books present.
  13. All free kicks are indirect.
  14. If a player receives a red card or dismissal in a game he/she will be disciplined in accordance with the O.S.A. Policies and Procedures.
  15. In the 7 v 7 Soccer Festival format, standings will not be kept, there will not be a final game, and there will not be trophies or medals.  Teams will play their 3 guaranteed games and will receive a participation gift for all players.
  16. For any issues not covered in the above, a decision will be made by the Tournament convenor. All decisions will be final.


11 v 11 Tournaments

  1. ALL teams MUST be registered with an affiliated club, teams must be registered with their District Association as an indoor or futsal team for 2011-2012, or as an outdoor team for 2012 and players will be required to show their OSA Player Registration Books on tournament day.
  2. Each team playing at The Soccer Centre from outside the York Region S.A. or at Lamport Stadium from outside the Toronto S.A., must obtain Permission to Travel from its District Association prior to the entry deadline and submit it with their registration form in order to be considered registered. Failure to present a Travel Permit will result in forfeiture of all scheduled games without refund. 
  3. All other divisions will play full field, 11 v 11.
  4. All 11 v 11 games are 40 minutes in duration. There is no half-time.
  5. There are no assistant referees or linsemen for these games. 
  6. If the ball makes contact with the ceiling or an object on the ceiling during play, play will be stopped and an indirect free kick will be awarded to the team that did not have possession of the ball when it was kicked.
  7. Unlimited substitutions can be made at any stoppage, at the referees discretion.
  8. If any team pulls it’s goalkeeper, the player coming on must wear a jersey of a different colour from the rest of his/her team to distinguish himself/herself.
  9. Teams may carry a maximum of 18 players.
  10. Trial Permits and Temporary Registration permits for guest players are allowed with proper validation by District Association. (Maximum of 3 players per team.)
  11. Teams may use players that are registered in their club from an equal or younger age group. These players must be registered and have their OSA Player Registration Books present.
  12. If a player receives a red card or dismissal in a game he/she will be disciplined in accordance with the O.S.A. Policies and Procedures.
  13. If knock out games are tied at the end of regulation time the game will go directly to Kicks from the Penalty Mark. (5 Kicks will be taken. More kicks may be necessary if there is a tie)
  14. Tie Breaker in Group Play
    1. Head to Head
    2. Goal Difference
    3. Most Goals
    4. Kicks from Penalty Mark (5 kicks, more if needed in case of tie)
  15. If teams play the same number of games the Wild Card Playoff spots will be given to the second place team with the most points. If more than one second place team has the same number of points the Wild Card winner will be decided by Tie Breaking Procedures according to Rule 17 above.
  16. If groups are uneven and teams play a different number of games, then the Wild Card will be determined by the Best Goal Difference Average of the teams in second place in each group. Best Goal Difference Average will be determined by dividing the Goal Difference by the number of games played. If teams remain tied after calculating the Goal Difference Average, Kicks from the Penalty Mark will determine the winner.
  17. If a team has been disqualified or failed to appear for a game, all games will be null and void.
  18. Any team wishing to protest a game must do so in writing no later than 15 minutes after the game. This letter must be accompanied with $100.00 cash. If the protest is upheld the 100.00 will be returned.
  19. For any issues not covered in the above, a decision will be made by the Tournament convenor. All decisions will be final.


The above Entry Rules must be read by all teams and clubs entering the OSA Holiday Tournaments. By submitting the Entry Form, you are agreeing to all conditions in the Entry Rules. You are also agreeing to abide by the Competition Rules and administration procedures of the competition.
