Host Guidelines
The success of the tournament format depends on obtaining the required number of Tournament Host Organizations. If there are not enough hosts, then the tournaments will be cancelled and regular knock-out rounds will be played.
In 2013, all youth divisions up to and including Under 17 are scheduled to operate as Tournament Rounds. Therefore, there are 13 divisions that will require a minimum of 75 tournaments. The Ontario Soccer Association, as a result, needs 75 Tournament Host Organizations.
District Associations, Clubs, Leagues, and Referee Associations may host one or more Ontario Cup tournaments.
District Associations, Provincial Leagues and Regional Leagues apply directly to the OSA while all other organizations apply through their District Association.
If your organization is interested in hosting an Ontario Cup Tournament, please complete the following Tournament Host Application(pdf) and send it to your District Association.

What is required to host an Under 13 Ontario Cup Tournament in 2013?
The Ontario Soccer Association will be introducing a new pilot format for the 2013 Ontario Cup in the Under 13 Boys and Under 13 Girls Divisions. The new format will modify the existing Ontario Cup blueprint to align with Long-Term Player Development principles.
The pilot program will look similar in structure to the traditional Ontario Cup format:
- Preliminary Round Tournaments will still exist where the number of registered teams warrants it.
- Round Robin Tournaments will still determine which teams move on to the Quarter-Final Round.
What will change is the scheduling of the Preliminary and Round Robin Tournaments:- Teams will no longer be placed into groups of five, and will no longer be playing multiple games in one day.
- All tournament groups will consist of four teams, and each team will play one game Friday, one game Saturday, and one game Sunday at prearranged times.
These changes are intended to give more rest time to the players, reduce risk of injury, and to elevate the level of play. This new format will be a great learning experience for everyone involved, and is a key step to further the transition to a more “player-centered” mentality.
