Joe Audi started as a Referee in 1998 for Ontario soccer, officiating in the United soccer league, CSL, USL, Ontario Cup, OUA, OCAA, and Futsal Cup. In 2007 he become a referee assessor and instructor for Ontario soccer being involved in Referee Development by assessing refereeing performance and instructing courses, clinics, and workshops. Later in 2012, he become a referee assessor and instructor for Canada Soccer Association where he lead advanced to entry-level courses and provided verbal and written feedback that helps develop soccer referees. He is also apart of the National Research Council of Canada holding the position of Executive Lead of Program Mercury. He is also an adjunct professor at the University of Ottawa teaching Marketing, Finance, Marketing, and Business courses.
