Ground-breaking BMO Girls Play ON! Coach Training and Festival Series Back in Four Regions for 2024!

Play. Inspire. Unite.

With its debut season in 2023 having been a huge success, the ground-breaking BMO Girls Play ON! program is making a return to four different regions across Ontario in the summer of 2024.

BMO Girls Play ON! is an innovative girls’ soccer and leadership development program, engaging girls through coaching and playing opportunities. The program creates a safe and inclusive environment, where girls can enjoy a social setting, play the game they love, learn about coaching, and mentor/mentee with women coaches and facilitators.

Ontario Soccer and BMO are excited to present this welcoming and inclusive program, one that fosters many positive outcomes for the participants, including an active lifestyle, leadership skills, education about opportunities in coaching, and most importantly, inspired girls and women.

The program will serve two distinct age categories: The Coaching Stream will feature young women aged U16-U17 (2008 and 2007) interested in learning how to coach. The Playing Stream will be open to participants aged U7 and U8 (2017, 2016) that want to play soccer in a 3v3 festival environment.

This series of coaching clinics and grassroots festivals will be held as one-day events throughout the outdoor season in four locations across Ontario:

  • Saturday, July 6, 2024 - Flower City Community Campus, Brampton (Co-Hosted by Brams United Soccer Club)
  • Saturday, July 27, 2024 - Académie Ste-Cécile International School, Windsor (Co-Hosted by Tecumseh United FC)
  • Saturday, August 10, 2024 – George Nelms Sports Park, Ottawa (Co-Hosted by Ottawa South United)
  • Sunday, August 25, 2024 – Chapples Park, Thunder Bay (Co-Hosted by Thunder Bay Chill Soccer Club)

Program Details – Coaching Stream (Morning)
The Coaching Clinic will take place on-field as a practical session in the morning from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. As part of the certification, participants will be required to take a one-hour online module ahead of the on-field practical component. After the conclusion of the course and the completion of other requisite coaching courses, all coaching clinic participants will be certified in the U6-U8 category – FUNdamentals.  After the training, at 1:00 p.m., these newly trained coaches will work on the field with the grassroots girls at the 3v3 BMO FunFest (afternoon portion), while being mentored and supervised by the Coaching Course Facilitator.

Program Details - Playing Stream (Afternoon)
BMO Girls Play ON! 3v3 FunFest will begin at 1:00 p.m. with each team of 3-4 players being supported by a newly certified coach. Players will engage in group icebreakers, receive a fun swag bag, and take part in a festival style 3v3 soccer FunFest.
