Three Ontario players were selected in the NWSL Draft.

Forward Lindsay Agnew (Kingston) was the top Canadian, 19th overall to the Washington Spirit, while goalkeeper Kailen Sheridan (Whitby) was chosen 23rd by New Jersey-based Sky Blue FC. Forward Nichelle Prince (Ajax) went 28th to the Houston Dash.

Sheridan and Prince are both regulars in the Women's National team setup.

Agnew is a Canadian under-20 team member.

The lure of big money and big-name teams in Europe removed Canadian star defender Kadeisha Buchanan (Olympique Lyonnais) and midfielder Ashley Lawrence (Paris Saint-Germain), both from Ontario, in advance of the 10-team draft.
